Creating a delicious cheese and charcuterie board is easy and enjoyable. Here are the steps to guide you:
Pick Your Cheeses
Experiment with a mix of cheeses, including aged, firm, soft, crumbly, and creamy varieties. Allow the cheeses to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance their flavors.
For any hard cheeses you’re serving, pre-slice them to make it more convenient for your guests to enjoy. You can cut them into alternating triangles, cubes, or slices. Also, offer a range of milk types, such as cow, goat, and sheep milk cheeses, as they each offer distinct tastes and textures.
However, don’t overwhelm your selection. Ensure there’s at least one cheese that your guests are familiar with, like the universally loved Parmesan or a classic choice like Cheddar. You can check our selection of cheeses (link to Chatfood)
The 3 or 5 Rule
Arrange your cheeses on separate areas of the plate and separate the similar textured cheeses to offer a visual variety.
Easy cheese combination options:
- Aged: Aged sharp Cheddar or aged Gouda
- Firm: Parmigiano-Reggiano (I like the crystals in it) or Gruyère
- Creamy: Brillat-Savarin (my favorite- it’s a triple cream cheese, very buttery) or La Tur
- Crumbly: Chèvre (Goat cheese)
- Blue: Gorgonzola or Stilton
Add Accompaniments: Arrange a variety of accompaniments around the cheeses and meats. These can include grapes, apple slices, dried fruits, fig jam, honey, olives, and a mix of nuts. These extras provide balance and complement the flavors. You can follow our pairing tips on our Instagram page (link). Provide Utensils: Set out small cheese knives or spreaders so that guests can serve themselves. Don’t forget to include small plates and napkins for convenience. You can check our accessories
